Vote McCain/Palin. They are damage control

Some conservatives and Republicans who are at odds with the direction the Republican party has taken and plan to either vote for Democrats, third parties, or just stay home on election day, will accomplish what they should want to prevent:  A leftist tax and spend government with no controls.

As President, John McCain is damage control to Barack Obama's vision of America and the onslaught of government “of, for and by” the political class.  There is no need for Americans to suffer under an fiscally oppressive government until it collapses under the weight of recession, unemployment and high taxes on those few who can find work. Vote McCain/Palin to stop them.

A President McCain administration, one of the few politicians that tips the scales towards honestly and selfless service, will continue his record from the US Senate of opposing the status quo, pork, reducing spending and taxes, and to promote job creation in the private sector.  If you're thinking he and Sarah Palin are not your team, you have to ask yourself, "Will a Democratic Party controlled congress and executive branch really cut your taxes?"  "Do they have a history of cutting taxes?"  Will their policies improve the economic situation?

The answer can be found in Obama's tax plan.  I call it the "Hoover Maneuver".

Syndicated columnist
Amity Shlaes writes that President Hoover raised income taxes from 25 percent to 68 percent, instituted a 40 percent tariff on imports and canceled all oil leases on government lands (sound familiar?) during the Great Depression.  That maneuver very likely extended the Great Depression for many more years than need be. When the "New Deal" is added in, the depression lasted until WWII.

Obama promises to implement the Hoover Maneuver, raising taxes and stifling economic growth.

Barack's version of the "Hoover Maneuver".

- Raise the top rate from 35% to 39%;  This will encourage people to move money "off shore" or lose it (with a net of no tax gains for federal revenue).
- Raise the capital gains tax rate from 15% to 20-28%; That is the middle class' retirement accounts, and please remember those off shore accounts.
- Add Social Security taxes to those earning above $250K; That is 7.2% to employees, 14.2% for the self employed (think small business), additional 7.2% tax on business)
- Allow the Bush tax cuts to expire in 2010; Raises income taxes on those 95% who he promises tax cuts in his campaign ads.
- Barack keeps the corporate tax rate at 35%;  Second highest rate in the world, driving jobs over seas.
- Continued dependence on foreign oil by opposing the use of our own energy resources.

Recall that John McCain voted for tax cuts at every opportunity, has never requested earmarks, and is pro life.  In his tax plan, he will:

- Make the Bush tax cuts
permenant
- make medical insurance portable and affordable
- increase tax deductions for individuals and families
- Reduce corporate taxes (keep jobs in America)

Most importantly, he has many years of leadership experience and he has put the freedom of Americans ahead of is own.  His Vice Presidential Candidate, Governor Sarah Palin, has more leadership experience than Senators Obama and Bidden combined.

Do you want a recession followed by a depression for the next decade?

If your answer “yes” to the Obama/Reid/Pelosi vision, vote Obama, for a third party (that has no chance of winning) or stay home.  If your answer is no higher taxes and big government, vote McCain/Palin.

A McCain Vote is Stupid. Huh?

I have been looking around, reading different articles here and there, and found one by Mr. Stu Kreisman that caught my attention. It is titled "A Whole Lotta Stupid".  In it, Mr. Kreisman insists that anyone who will be voting for John McCain in November is "stupid".

Stu writes, “In a few weeks close to fifty million Americans will vote against their own interests by choosing John McCain. Why? Idealism, greed, racism, and fear for starters. I tend to believe the main reason is stupidity.” (emphasis mine)

I would like to know why that vote would be stupid, so I read on.

He does not try to show how a vote for McCain is against our own interests or why it might be about "idealism, greed, racism, and fear."  However, he does offer up his own reason McCain supporters are "stupid". E.g., his criminal activity as a highly skilled tollbooth attendant...

Stu confesses, “people would ask me "How much?" "One dollar" I'd reply. Nine times out of ten they'd pay it. I'd ring up the 50 cents and pocket the rest.”

I see.  Stu is an unrepentant petty criminal ergo, McCain supporters are stupid.  And it doesn't seem to matter that he provides no other evidence to back up his statement, or even how his crimes apply. And yet most of the responders are in agreement with him. even though the entire blog is a non sequitur (I see a lot of this at the Huff).

It seems that many agree with him.

Ladydriver responds with, "Finally. Someone saying what we've all known for so long. Thank you, Stu, for speaking the facts of the matter."

Facts?  All we have Stu's confession. Is the confession a fact that would influence someone to agree with Stu's point of view?  It may be. I understand that among the liberal left, a little confession is usually all that is required to gain or regain their support.  That is all they have ever asked of President Bush, right.

Then there is Petey13 who insists, "Oh believe me they are STUPID!"
That is the entire posted response.  Why believe Petey131?  I suppose stupidity, as Petey131 relates it to McCain supporters, is just common knowledge in his world. A given. Sort of an 'it goes without saying' thing.

Personally, I would not characterize an entire group, such as the 50 million Stu claims, as "stupid" due to one issue.  That smacks of a prejudice and is not very bi-partisan.  I might consider labeling someone or a group of someones as "misguided" if they are willing to bet their futures on a position that substitutes feelings for facts and empty air for qualifications.

Maybe there is a reason I am not a liberal.  As a young man I worked at a gas station where the attendant (me) would pump your gas, check your oil, put air in your tires and clean your windows for a meager $1.65 an hour (no tips).  I recall a customer paying for his 15 gallons of leaded regular with crisp looks-like-new $1 silver certificates.  I saw five bills so I gave him is $.35 change and he drove away.  A short time later I separated the bills and found the fifth bill was a crisp looks-like-new twenty-dollar bill.  I would have to work about 12 hours to make $20 way back then and I knew it. I held on to the $20 believing he would miss it and come in looking for it.  I was wrong.  When he came back the next week, I had to tell him what happened and gave him his $20.  He said "thanks".

I must have the wrong attitude to be a Barack Obama supporter.

Vote McCain/Palin.  They are damage control.
