A McCain Vote is Stupid. Huh?

I have been looking around, reading different articles here and there, and found one by Mr. Stu Kreisman that caught my attention. It is titled "A Whole Lotta Stupid".  In it, Mr. Kreisman insists that anyone who will be voting for John McCain in November is "stupid".

Stu writes, “In a few weeks close to fifty million Americans will vote against their own interests by choosing John McCain. Why? Idealism, greed, racism, and fear for starters. I tend to believe the main reason is stupidity.” (emphasis mine)

I would like to know why that vote would be stupid, so I read on.

He does not try to show how a vote for McCain is against our own interests or why it might be about "idealism, greed, racism, and fear."  However, he does offer up his own reason McCain supporters are "stupid". E.g., his criminal activity as a highly skilled tollbooth attendant...

Stu confesses, “people would ask me "How much?" "One dollar" I'd reply. Nine times out of ten they'd pay it. I'd ring up the 50 cents and pocket the rest.”

I see.  Stu is an unrepentant petty criminal ergo, McCain supporters are stupid.  And it doesn't seem to matter that he provides no other evidence to back up his statement, or even how his crimes apply. And yet most of the responders are in agreement with him. even though the entire blog is a non sequitur (I see a lot of this at the Huff).

It seems that many agree with him.

Ladydriver responds with, "Finally. Someone saying what we've all known for so long. Thank you, Stu, for speaking the facts of the matter."

Facts?  All we have Stu's confession. Is the confession a fact that would influence someone to agree with Stu's point of view?  It may be. I understand that among the liberal left, a little confession is usually all that is required to gain or regain their support.  That is all they have ever asked of President Bush, right.

Then there is Petey13 who insists, "Oh believe me they are STUPID!"
That is the entire posted response.  Why believe Petey131?  I suppose stupidity, as Petey131 relates it to McCain supporters, is just common knowledge in his world. A given. Sort of an 'it goes without saying' thing.

Personally, I would not characterize an entire group, such as the 50 million Stu claims, as "stupid" due to one issue.  That smacks of a prejudice and is not very bi-partisan.  I might consider labeling someone or a group of someones as "misguided" if they are willing to bet their futures on a position that substitutes feelings for facts and empty air for qualifications.

Maybe there is a reason I am not a liberal.  As a young man I worked at a gas station where the attendant (me) would pump your gas, check your oil, put air in your tires and clean your windows for a meager $1.65 an hour (no tips).  I recall a customer paying for his 15 gallons of leaded regular with crisp looks-like-new $1 silver certificates.  I saw five bills so I gave him is $.35 change and he drove away.  A short time later I separated the bills and found the fifth bill was a crisp looks-like-new twenty-dollar bill.  I would have to work about 12 hours to make $20 way back then and I knew it. I held on to the $20 believing he would miss it and come in looking for it.  I was wrong.  When he came back the next week, I had to tell him what happened and gave him his $20.  He said "thanks".

I must have the wrong attitude to be a Barack Obama supporter.

Vote McCain/Palin.  They are damage control.
